Never. Markup does not process payments, so Markup takes nothing per transaction, zero percent, no hidden cut. Your customer pays you directly: e-Transfer, cheque, card, cash, however they already pay you. Markup writes the invoice, tracks the 28-day clock, and chases late payments. You keep 100% of every dollar.

How do I get paid?

Markup writes every invoice to the Ontario Construction Act standard, putting your customer on the legal 28-day clock from the moment you send it. Your customer pays you directly the way they always have: e-Transfer, cheque, card, cash. The moment you mark the invoice paid in Markup, we send them a thank-you and a Google-review request automatically.

How does the AI quote assistant work?

Type your scope notes and the assistant suggests line items based on your trade and labour rates, applies your markup floors, and produces a draft. You review every line, adjust as needed, and approve before anything reaches your customer. Markup is not liable for pricing errors. Always confirm with a site visit.

Does it connect to my accounting software?

On Plus you can invite your accountant or bookkeeper to a read-only view of your invoices, expenses, subcontractor payments, and GST/HST totals, and they can export any of it as CSV. Every plan can also export invoices, payments, and clients as CSV. A direct QuickBooks connection is on the roadmap.

Is there a mobile app?

Coming soon. The web app is already fully mobile-responsive, so you can run quotes, send invoices, and chase payments from a job site today on your phone. Native iOS and Android apps are next. The scope is intentionally narrow and field-first: photo capture for jobs, hours, expense receipts, tap-to-call customers, and a push notification when an invoice gets paid. You will be notified the moment they are ready.
